At Tweed Health for Everyone Superclinic we have a strong focus on preventative care in chronic disease management, including addressing risk factors such as obesity, smoking and alcohol. We are proactive in working with patients by providing education on how best to manage chronic disease.

Additionally, patients can access many allied health services including podiatry, dietitian, psychology, physiotherapy, diabetic education, hearing assessments, optometry and dentistry all from our one convenient location. By having these ancillary services situated together we also ensure a more streamlined and collaborative approach to patient care. For those patients requiring more complex care, we conduct regular coordinated care meetings in-house, including the involvement of providers from the public hospital system.

Aged care at Tweed Health for Everyone Superclinic focuses on both chronic disease management and dementia services. We have close links with the Dementia Outreach Service as well as offer in-house services from psychologists specialising in dementia.

We also offer services to patients in Registered Aged Care Facilities. For all patients over 75 years of age, we can provide an annual in-home assessment with a visiting nurse. This assessment helps us identify any issues with memory, fall-risks in the home, and depression. Along with a general medical check these assessments ensure we can proactively address any problems before they escalate and result in hospital admission.

Older patients often have complex medication lists. Our doctors work with our local pharmacists to regularly review medications as well as suggest the use of dosing aids where appropriate.

In addition to GP care, elderly patients can access a range of allied health care including physiotherapy, psychology, dietetics, speech pathology, podiatry, hearing checks and optometry.

Vasectomy is a minor surgical procedure performed to block the passage of sperm from the testes and therefore to provide a permanent method of birth control. There are different techniques performed for vasectomies, Dr Judd McClelland uses the no scalpel (keyhole) technique. No Scalpel vasectomies are becoming the preferred vasectomy technique as they are less invasive, less painful and have fewer complications than other vasectomy options.

An hour consultation is required with Dr Judd McClelland which will include a consultation prior to having the procedure on the same day, this will ensure that you are suitable for a non-scalpel vasectomy. The procedure itself generally only takes up to 30 minutes.

A referral from your regular GP is not required but can be helpful for your medical history if you are not a current patient at this practice.

The day of your vasectomy you will need to:

  • Avoid aspirin and anti-inflammatory drugs like Ibuprofen
  • Shave the scrotum and pubic area
  • Wear firm underpants rather than boxers for a few days prior where possible
  • Thoroughly clean the groin and scrotum
  • Food and fluid should be avoided 4 hours before the procedure

After your vasectomy you should:

  • Although you may be able to drive yourself home, it is preferable to have someone else drive you home.
  • Lay flatly the remainder of the day
  • Apply ice packs at intervals
  • Take it easy for a day or two
  • Most men can return to work after 2-3 days but should avoid heavy work and sport for 7-10 days.

Vasectomy Fees:

$795 with a Medicare rebate of $198.55, leaving an out of pocket expense of $596.45. A non-refundable deposit of $100 is required at the time of booking your consultation.

For more information or to make an appointment please phone our friendly reception team on 07 5589 7555.

comprehensive full body Skin Checks

Most of us know that protecting our skin from the sun is the most important step in preventing skin cancer.

But what if your skin hasn't always been protected? Or you can't always avoid the sun? Or perhaps you have a history of skin cancer in your family?

Catching and treating skin cancer early is the most effective form of management. Consequently regular skin checks are an important part of keeping healthy and living well.

At The Beach Skin Cancer Clinic you are in experienced and professional hands with Dr Chris Wetherall, Dr Judd McClellandDr Matt CardoneDr Zabrina Kingston, and Dr Jean Ashton, all highly qualified in the detection and management of skin cancers.

What to Expect

During your skin check, the doctor will inspect your skin from head to toe. Using a dermascope your doctor is able to view cellular structures below the surface of the skin. This is the most accurate way of examining a skin lesion without removing it. The benefits of using a dermascope include accurately identifying benign lesions that can be confidently left alone as well as detecting developing skin cancers at a very early stage. This means treatment is likely to be simple and effective.

If any skin cancers are detected your doctor will discuss treatment options with you. Otherwise you will be logged in our system and a reminder letter sent out when you are next due for a skin check.

Checking your own skin

While regular skin checks with a doctor are recommended it is also important to check your own skin. Make it part of your routine and become familiar with your own skin, looking especially for new, changing and unusual bits of skin. Show these to an experienced doctor.

An expert and experienced team

When it comes to skin cancer detection, surgery and management you want the peace of mind that comes from being treated by experienced professionals. At The Beach Skin Cancer Clinic we have put together a team of caring health practitioners who have worked extensively in skin cancer care, hold respected qualifications and continue their education on a regular basis. Most importantly, both Dr Chris Wetherall and Dr Greg Cusick are accredited Skin Cancer Doctors.

Chris also holds a Master of Medicine in Skin Cancer from The Univerity of Queensland.

In his role as coordinator and head lecturer for the Diploma of Dermoscopy (at the Skin Cancer College) Chris oversees a group of five lecturers who teach 40-50 GPs each year. Chris is also a lecturer at the University of Woolongong; is involved in a number of research projects; and regularly attends national and international conferences on Skin Cancer.

In addition to Chris' extensive training, he has worked as a Skin Cancer Physician in the local area for the last five years: treating many patients and building on his knowledge, skills and experience in skin cancer detection and management.
