Dr Peter Barry

General Practitioner

Born and raised in South Brisbane, Peter completed a Bachelor of Biomedical Science degree and subsequent Graduate Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery both through the University of Queensland. Graduating medicine in 2007 he moved to the Gold Coast to complete his internship and residency at the Gold Coast hospital.

 

Peter met his wife, Dr. Megan Kelly (another GP) whilst working at the Gold Coast hospital. They have 2 wonderful children together Ava and William. Being around his wife and children is the most important part of his life. His other loves are his black Labrador, Billy, and rescue cat, Sookie. In his spare time he will be found walking Billy or lifting weights in his home gym.

Peter has been a GP at Robina prior to moving to Tweed Health and is a Fellow of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners. Peter is passionate about being a family doctor and has special interests in sports (elite athletes) and musculoskeletal medicine (joint and muscular injuries), aged care (multiple medical issues), chronic diseases (such as High blood pressure, Diabetes, Asthma, Heart disease), Pain management (Non-opioid based) and Mental Health (Depression and Anxiety).
